LIBRARY Resources!
At the Hennepin County and Minneapolis libraries, you can get access to Ancestry.com, a service you would normally have to subscribe to to utilize.  At their site you can search electronically for census records, military records, government informaton and much more.  Often it's as simple as entering a name and date range and can be very productive.  In earlier years you would have to scan multiple reals of microfilm, hoping to find what you need.  Now the "search" tools can take you right there!
The new Minneapolis Public Library (Central, downtown) has a major focus on genealogy on the fourth floor plus the best collection of landowner records in the area.  They have several computers dedicated to genealogy researchers.  The Brookdale and Brooklyn Park libraries of the Hennepin County system also have tremendous computer resources & availability.

They were produced every 4-6 years and you can often trace how the land holdings changed from one decade to another.  Click the link below to go to a landowner map from 1914..  Click on that map to enlarge it to make it even more readable.
