Brooklyn Historical Society     "Current Projects"
Brooklyn Township, Hennepin County, State of Minnesota; Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center
Our Fall Event was held at the Brookdale Library on November 11th and was very well attended.

Author Curtis Dahlin will talked about his book titled the "Dakota Uprising Victims" , a monumental work on the civil war era conflict between Minnesota Native Americans and the Soldiers of the day that were to work to preserve the safety of the farmers, settlers and immigrants of the day.  More details were on our MEETINGS page!

Dahlin is a resident of Roseville, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Historical Society showed several of the short films from their "Greatest Generation" film competition.  These excellent stories are being shown on Channel 17 and are available online or at major libraries.  This has become an annual competition and is well worth your consideration!
Civil War Volunteers from the area are being researched by several members.  They are studying who served, in what battles they saw action and other aspects of their military service to America.

The first volume of "Patriots of Brooklyn" is now available for purchase (volume 1, A-G), see details on our
Patriots page!
You can Volunteer to Gift Wrap at a major shopping center in the area before major holidays.  BHS members and volunteers help staff mall gift-wrapping booths. The mall managers make an important donation to our group, providing a major source of BHS revenue.  Join us in the fun!
Community Support...  BHS members and volunteers help maintain displays at several locations in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park.  We also help support other community events and programs.  Join us and get involved!
In 2006, several generous donations helped us establish an Endowment Fund for the future benefit of the Brooklyn Historical Society.

Ring the bell loudly with a big thank you to the Engdahl and Schreiber families for the initial funding of this important milestone.

In your own estate planning, please keep us in mind! Thank You!
Support our history-making endeavors with your appreciated company shares.  Call us for a summary of how to deliver your donation to our investment firm acount.  Make a donation, get a tax deduction, achieve a historic benefit to our community!  Thank you!
Artifacts & Community Records are an important asset of any historical group.  We're able to help people that are researching their history in the area.  We provide access to census records, land ownership maps, cemetery and other historical information.  Our books like "The Brooklyn's" can be tremendous sources of community history.

Since 1970, the Brooklyn Historical Society has been a growing home for historical memorabilia and records.  Let us know if you have something you'd like to donate! Thanks!
