Brooklyn Historical Society gets support from area Companies... THANKS!
In 2007-08, a new kind of support was realized when a donation was received from Medtronic.  Recognizing the 100+ hours of volunteer efforts by an employee who is one of our members, the company sent BHS a checks for $2,000.  Thank you Medtronic!
In 2007 & 2008, more donatons were received from Qwest, whose "Spirit of Service" extends to also acknowledging the time donated by their employees.  Another  $1,500 has arrived (3 x $500 each) to honor the 160+ hours donated by another BHS volunteer.

Another corporate donation came USBancorporation through Karen Orn.  This was a "matching donation" contribution.         Known for their convenient locations, we've added them to our honor roll.  Thank You USBANK!
Many companies in the Twin Cities have programs like these where they'll note the volunteer efforts of their employees by making a donation to the 501C(3) organizatoin.  Does yours?

You simply donate your time in support of Brooklyn Historical programs and when a certain number of hours are completed, a 1-2 page document is faxed in and your company might make an important donation to help us fund our operations!
Did you know? Many of these company programs allow a filing for any 6-month program in which their employee volunteers a minimum number of hours (50-60 hours / per 6 months)? In a year, these companies could make 2 donations per year per employee / volunteer.

Trade coins from The HOWE Company, known for their fertilizer and potato business and more.  These trade tokens are from around the 1950's - 1960's.  A century ago trade tokens were used to get people to come back to your business again.  This HOWE family business was in Brooklyn Center, north of Ryan Lake and their fertilizer brand was "BEST BET"!.  In late summer the company also marketed potatoes.  Also the family also had operated the HOWE STORE at about 69th & Brooklyn Blvd. in the second half of the 1800's.

Celebrating the history of Brooklyn Township in Hennepin County;  Brooklyn Center & Brooklyn Park.   Both the Township and the State of Minnesota celebrate 150 years in 2008.  The Minnesota Territory dates to 1849.
