Brooklyn Center American Legion            Duoos Brothers Post 630
6110 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota 55429                                    (763) 561-3138
In 1919, George Washington Bentley was in a Paris, France meeting hall when the original Legion was organized.  In October of 1947, the Duoos Brothers American Legion Post #630 recieved a temporary charter which became a permanent charter in January of 1948.  There were fifty members and Roy Peek was the first post commander.  Part of the 10th District of the Minnesota American Legion organization.  Initial meetings were held in member homes but by the mid 1950's the post acquired land at 4307 70th Avenue North in Brooklyn Center, the present site of the Legion Club House.  The ground-breaking for the new clubhouse was in October of 1957.  Later the post moved to 61st and Brooklyn Boulevard, their current home.

The
American Legion Brooklyn Center Post #630 Auxiliary was chartered in 1948 in a membership of forty-eight.  The Auxiliary supports Americanism by donating flags to the local schools, by supporting Girls State, the Poppy Program and other endeavors.
