Since 1962, Brookdale Center has been a major shopping mall in the area of Highway 100 and Brooklyn Boulevard.  One of the four "Dale" malls developed by The Dayton Company, the others being Southdale Center, Rosedale Center and Ridgedale Center.

Groups like Brooklyn Historical have enjoyed important support from mall management.  For many holidays we're able to provide gift-wrapping services that benefit shoppers and raise funds for our programs.

THANK YOU Brookdale Center!
Brookdale Center was built as one of the first "fully enclosed" malls.  In the decades before, people would drive to individual stores and might have to drive from one retailer to another.  But in the new enclosed mall you park once and enjoy a climate controlled environment, casually walking from one store to another.  In a state like Minnesota, this proved to be a state-of-the-art project for the convenience of guests and in enhancing the shopping experience.
There may be a major new addition to the history of Brookdale Mall in the form of a new Wal-Mart that is in the planning / discussion phase.  Watch for future news!
